On Sunday (June 13, 1999), AC had a chairmen meeting, Tieniu, Wang Qin, Li Fang, Weiqing, Zifeng and Zide attended the meeting, Mingshu was absent, but gave his suggestions before the meeting.
Several issues about YOCSEF development were discussed at the meeting:
1. As some new Executive Chairmen (EC) are not familiar with the procedure of planning and hosting YOCSEF activities, Zide was asked to rewrite the procedure (the draft version was sent to every AC members sometime ago), and send to everybody again. In the future, EC can follow the procedure to make the YOCSEF activities. The procedure is intended to give the ECs some guidelines and to ensure that YOCSEF operates in a professional way. Hence comments on the procedure are most welcome.
2. In order to guarantee the success of every YOCSEF activity, it is decided to appoint a supervisor for each month's event. AC chairmen, Academic Secretaries (AS) and Secretary General (SG) have to take the responsibilities of supervision. Arrangements for this year are as follows:
Zide for June;
Zifeng for July;
Zide for August again;
Wang Qin for September;
Li Fang for October;
Mingshu for November;
Tieniu for December.
3. In November in Shangsha, YOCSEF will have a branch, Huaimin will be EC for that activity.
4. In September 11th (Saturday) in Beijing, YOCSEF will have another special forum titled “中国IT企业如何面对WTO的到来?” (How do the China IT enterprises face the coming of WTO?)
5. Hopefully to have another YOCSEF branch (seminar) in Hangzhou, but it is to be confirmed later on with Zhaohui.
6. Being an AC member does not only mean an honor, much more important, means duty. According to YOCSEF regulations, if an AC member does not attend the YOCSEF activities or AC meeting for long time (to be given later on in a separate email ), he or she will not be YOCSEF AC member automatically no matter who he or she will be (Non-Beijing members are exceptional).
7. For non-Beijing AC members to get familiar with the way of organising YOCSEF events, they should come to Beijing to attend a YOCSEF event at least once, in order to learn how to host YOCSEF activities in the future.
